ABOUT ZION ACADEMY

Zion Academy is a group approach to home education.  We bring homeschool and classroom together.   Many parents today want, and need, an alternative to traditional school. Whether it is the simple desire to have a biblical perspective, a different approach to learning, or you want to homeschool but your schedule is a challenge, Zion Academy makes it possible.

MISSION

To provide quality and affordable Christian education to students, and empower parents with a better alternative to educate their children.

VISION

We want to see all students love to learn, thrive in the process, and stand firm on the foundation of the Word of God.

SCRIPTURE

… ”Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of Jacob’s God.  There He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths.”  For the Lord’s teaching will go out from Zion …

  • Who is responsible for my child's education?
Zion Academy partners with parents to teach core subjects, a biblical worldview, leadership and life skills. While you will need to register and be responsible for your child’s education with the state, the teachers will provide oversight of all the core subjects. Teachers will also provide suggestions for additional work, give insights on where your student will need additional support and give recommendations for additional resources.
  • Is Zion Academy a School?
Zion Academy is an alternative form of Christian education. We make homeschooling possible for parents. Whether you are working, have schedule challenges, need social engagement for your student, or simply need a Christian-based alternative, Zion Academy is for you. We are not accredited but offer everything your child needs for a full education.
  • What is taught at Zion Academy?
Zion Academy teaches a biblically-based curriculum, and offers all core subjects, except for Health/Sex Education. We feel that this subject is best taught by parents. We use a variety of resources for online math, in which students can learn at their own pace. In the 2024/25 school year, we will be offering a more robust approach for PE, in addition to some classes for our Jr. High and High School students that centers around household budgeting and financial literacy.
  • Do I have to keep records of what was taught?
The state of Nebraska does not require record-keeping; however, we recommend that you keep records. Zion Academy will also help with supplying information that is critical information for your records. If your child plans on attending college, they will need a transcript for high school (subjects they took and their grade).
  • Do I have to attend Lord of Hosts Church?
No, you do not have to attend, or be a member, of Lord of Hosts Church. We do ask that all students and parents sign a code of conduct agreement, and that they espouse a Christian and biblical world view.
  • Does Zion Academy cater to special needs, gifted learners, or troubled students?
Currently, Zion Academy is not equipped to handle special needs students. If you have a gifted learner, we would need to know more about the needs of your student, and would handle those on a case-by-case basis. Zion Academy is not a suitable solution for students with troubled behavior or any that have been removed from traditional learning for behavior-related reasons.
  • Is there a cost of tuition?
Yes. Tuition is $3,400 for K-5th, $3,600 for 6th-8th, and $3,800 for 9th-12th for the year. We believe that education is an investment, and we ensure that the funds go to providing the children with all of the tools and resources necessary to enhance their learning experience to equip them for the future. Proceeds will also go towards funding field trips during the school year. Monthly payment plans, and scholarship opportunities are available.
